Royal Volunteer Review

 September 18th, 1905

Here is a close-up view of the King's Escort during the Royal Review in King's Park on 18 September 1905.

This was one of several postcards of the event produced by James Patrick and others shortly after the event.

This postcard was posted from Edinburgh to Sutherlandshire on 28 September 1905, ten days after the Review, possibly by a visitor from the North of Scotland who had come to Edinburgh to see the review.  However, in writing the message on this card they seem to be more concerned about dyeing a hat than the Review.  The message begins:

"I took your white hat to dye it.  It would cost as much as a new one  ...""

See Castle Series for more cards, some probably by John and James Patrick.
