View from Calton Hill

Tuck's "Oilette" series

Here is  a postcard from the Raphael Tuck & Sons' "Oilette" series I (7321).

The message 'A Happy Christmas' has been added to the card.

This card has not been sent through the post.

Tuck's description on the back of this card reads:

"Edinburgh from Calton Hill.  A beautiful view of a beautiful city.  West from the hill shows the picturesque and irregular mass of the castle immediately behind the classic monument to Dugald Stuart which occupies the foreground of the picture.

On the left is seen part of the Old Town with the imperial crown of St Giles (This has been almost cropped out of the view on the postcard!), the spire of the Tollbooth Church and the dome of the Bank of Scotland."
