This photograph was taken at Hawes Brae, on the 'old road' from Edinburgh to Queensferry. Hawes Brae is the hill that leads down to Hawes Pier beside the Forth Rail Bridge at Queensferry. The number on this Valentine's postcard indicated that the photograph was taken around 1909. The Forth Bridge would only have been about twenty years old when this photo was taken. Does anybody recognise the vehicle is in this photo? |
