Thank you to Michael Gee, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada for letting me reproduce this postcard. I don't know which Jerome studio this photo comes from. Jerome studios throughout Britain appear to have uses the same style of postcard, with no indication of which studio produced which photos. However, Jerome usually dated their postcards with a rubber ink stamp. This can often be helpful in identifying subjects. The date on this photo is not very clear, but it appears to be 30 October 1922. There is also a name written on the front of this card: 'Edna Knight' and a brief message written on the back: "This is Edna in a play called Maritana." |

Maritana I assume that the 'play' referred to on the postcard was the short opera 'Maritana'. Our class at St Clare's Primary School, Bradford, West Yorkshire gave a performance of 'Maritana' for three evenings, around 1955, when I was aged about 10. - Peter Stubbs: July 30, 2007 |
