Thank you to Bryan Gourlay for sending me this Jerome portrait of his great grandmother, Jane Hoy Hill (Pringle). It is from Jerome's studio and is dated 20 September 1931. Bryan also sent a hand-coloured copy of the same photo, and a hand coloured portrait of his father Bryan wrote: |

"My best guess is that my great-grandparents' daughter, Mary Pringle, who was living in New Jersey, had this coloured portrait done in the US some time in the 1930s from the original Jerome photo. This photo, and also a hand-coloured photo of my great-grandfather who died in 1925, were in very expensive, for the time, gilt frames ($29.75 each) with a Chicago frame-maker's name on them - 'Deluxe Art Studio, 100 South Jefferson Street, Chicago'." |
