Calton Hill

Torchlight Procession

The start of Edinburgh's New Year Celebrations is celebrated by a Torchlight Procession from The Royal Mile via The Mound, Princes Street and Waterloo Place to the top of Calton Hill where there are floodlit monuments, fireworks and a bonfire.

Bonfire

This bonfire was at the top of Calton Hill.  Here, there is still a small group of spectators surrounding the fire, some time after the Torchlight Procession and fireworks had ended.

The northern suburbs of Edinburgh and Leith can be seen behind the fire.  The rows of lights in the background are towns in Fife on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth.
