Fire Engine

"Here is a photo of an AEC Southall fire engine on Hawes Pier, Queensferry.  The appliance is from Lauriston Fire Station and was here on a publicity shoot for AEC.

AEC built the chassis, engine, etc. for the Merryweather fire appliance in the 1950s and 1960s."

The Forth Bridges

This photo was taken in the early-1960s.

The Forth Bridge, which opened in 1890, is in the background.

In 1964, the Forth Road Bridge opened a short distance further upstream and the ferries stopped operating across the Forth from Hawes Pier.
