Looking down on Eastern Harbour

Granton

Granton Harbour

This view looks down from Granton Road, over the backs of the houses in Wardie Square, to Eastern Harbour, Granton, on a fine autumn day.  There are still lots of yachts in the harbour, though the sailing season must be almost over.

The harbour entrance can be seen [upper left] with Western and Eastern Breakwaters on either side of it.  The rather cluttered-looking buildings beside the harbour [top, extreme left] are on Middle Pier.

Granton School Annex

Andrew Boath, Chairman of the Granton History Group, tells me that the building in the centre of this picture with the large extension into the back garden was once Granton School Annex.

Later:

-  it was used for repairing fishing nets.

-  it was used by Buccleuch Boxing Club.

-  it became a meeting place for local residents.

Now it has been divided into separate houses.
