Lafayette's Gravestone

'The Great Lafayette'

'The Great Lafayette', Master Illusionist, died in a fire when a lamp fell amongst the scenery while he was performing  in front of an audience of 3,000 at the Empire Theatre, Edinburgh on May 9, 1911.

His cross-bred terrier, Beauty, had died four days earlier.  Both were buried together in Piershill Cemetery.
