Chinese Spring Lantern Festivals

China

Spring Lantern Festivals are an ancient public ritual, traditionally celebrated in China on the fifteenth day of the first month of the Chinese New Year. They mark the end of the series of Chinese New Year celebrations each year.

During the Lantern Festivals, children traditionally go out at night carrying bright decorated lanterns.

Edinburgh

The 'Spirit' Chinese Spring Lantern Festival  was held in the evenings from February 22 to March 9, 2008, in the Royal Botanic Garden greenhouses in Edinburgh,

This marked the launch of 'China Now' in Scotland, a year-long showcase of Chinese culture, exploring the ancient and modern links between the two countries.
