Tobacconist

"My mother died in 2012, aged 98.  Here is a photo from her hoard.  The man in the middle of this photo also appears in another photo from my mother's hoard.  I believe him to be a relative of my father.

I'm also interested in where this photo might have been taken.  It appears to be a shop.  The name, Lippiatt is an unusual one, so maybe someone will be able to come up with a location.

Of course it may well not be Edinburgh at all!  The family lived in Leith and had connections with Fife."

What is the Sign?

The sign at the doorway reads  'F LIPPIATT, LICENSED TO SELL TOBACCO', but what is the sign leaning against the wall behind the group.  Might it be part of an advert for a soft drink.  It appears to begin:  'BROOK & PR......'

There are adverts on eBay this week for 'BROOK & PRUDENCIO' ginger beer bottles for sale.
