Where is it?
This is one of a large collection of
photos taken by Robert Blomfield in Edinburgh between 1956 and 1967.
Robert's brother, John is in the process of scanning and cataloguing the photos.
He'd like to discover where this
photo was taken. If you recognise the location,
please email me, then I'll pass on the news to John.
Thank you

"This photo of the man in the shed at
Stockbridge looks like it could have been taken in Portgower Place which
runs between Edinburgh Academicals Rugby Club and The Grange Cricket
Club."

Thank you to Dodds who replied, identifying
the street as the same one as Alan Wilson refers to in 'Reply 1' above.

"This photo
looks as if it may have been taken along the road that leads from
Stockbridge/Comely Bank to Inverleith Pond. I can't recall its name, I'm
afraid."

"Re the workman in a trailer photo, I am convinced that this
'Workman in a Trailer' photo would have been taken in Portgower Place,
looking towards Inverleith Park.
The wall on the Accies side is a perfect match but the wall on the Grange
side is putting me off (I can’t remember it not being there.)
The tree lines on both side in the background also look perfect. I have
attached Google Streetview image."

Two Photos
Ian also sent me a recent Google Streetview image of Portgower Place,
which I have reproduced as 'Photo 5a' immediately after a copy of the 1965
photo below.
Despite Ian being puzzled by the wall on the Grange side of the street,
I see walls on both sides of the street in the 1965 photo, and feel that
they may well match the two walls in the Google photo.
The wall on the right - the Grange side of the street - in the early
photo appears to be partially hidden possibly by materials for the
building works or roadworks.
