Shooting Competition

Thank you to June Scott for
providing the photograph of the shooting competition above.
This photo comes from
the Wood family collection.
©
James Wood, owner of Wood's
Garage, Craighall Road, Edinburgh from 1929 until around 1964, was
keen on fishing and shooting, so may well have been involved in this
competition.
Judging by the cars in the
background, I would estimate the date of the photograph to be around the
1950s.

Thank you to George T Smith, British Columbia, Canada who
sent the following comments about the cars in the background of
this picture: |
The Cars
"They appear to be fifties/sixties cars. The
nearest car looks like a Riley Pathfinder (or its Wolesley look-a-like), then
the van a possible Austin, two I cannot identify then what looks like a Riley
2.5 litre (the 1.5 had the same body).
The car at right-back looks a bit big for a Popular but
there was no other in the Ford family that looked so upright - except
the Pilot?
Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. I used to pine
for a Pathfinder."
