Monuments and Buildings
The high column (centre-left in the photo) is to
Melville. It is in the centre of St Andrew Square, part of
Edinburgh's First New Town.
The large concrete building just below the
skyline (centre-right in the photo) is the St James complex, a hotel,
shopping centre and former government buildings, all soon to be
demolished.
The helter skelter (lower-right corner in the
photo) is in East Princes Street Gardens, close to the Scott Monument, for
Edinburgh's Christmas and New Year Festivities.
On the skyline, are:
- left: the hills of Fife, to the
north of the Firth of Forth.
- centre: Newhaven and Leith, on the
southern shore of the Firth of Forth.
- right: monuments on Calton Hill,
close to the East End of Princes Street.
