Two single deckers
Edinburgh Corporation and LRT
Buses
Here are two former
Edinburgh Corporation and LRT single deckers.
The notice on the window of No 105 reads:
"One of ten Midibuses bought by
Edinburgh Corporation. They were used on new route 60
linking St Andrew Square with the Dumbiedykes housing estate at
Holyrood.
Originally delivered with single
rear wheels, they were particularly prone to sliding (in all
directions!) particularly on wet cobbles. Double rear
wheels were soon fitted.
They had a relatively short life in
Edinburgh, eventually being withdrawn by Lothian Region
Transport in 1979/80. However, most went on to see further
service with private operators elsewhere in the UK.
105 was purchased from Peakbus,
Chesterfield in February 1997 by the Lothian Bus Consortium."
The buses in this photo are seen parked at the western end of the
Lathalmond site. They are, left to right: |
