Mid-1920s
"The photographs are captioned
'early 1900s' but are definitely not that old and should be referred to as
'Middle 1920s'.
In the photo 'Where is it? - 1',
you can clearly see a double decker bus with a covered top deck. Such
buses were not permitted until 1925 or '26, and the bus immediately behind
the transformer is still on solid tyres, all of which had been eliminated
by 1928.
The clothes worn by the ladies in
the middle distance would bear this period out.
The tractor is a Latil and is on
pneumatic tyres which could not have happened before WW I, and, finally,
the trailer being pulled by the Latil and sagging slightly under the
weight of the transformer is lettered for the London and North Eastern
Railway Co which did not exist until the 1923 grouping of railway
companies."
