"This photo is taken beside the Water of Leith (out of picture, on the left) in what is now Saunders Street.

My Grandfather, Edward Duffy, lived near to the Fire Station in this street until 1967, when the original Saunders Street was demolished to make way for more modern housing.

Most people from the tenements around here and from Bedford Street, Bedford Crescent, Dean Street, etc were moved out to the new housing estate at West Granton or to Muirhouse or West Pilton."
