Photograph This photo was taken from Johnston Terrace. It looks down on the west end of the Grassmarket as the riders come to the end of their ride. The riders came up the Royal mile, then down Johnston Terrace and entered the into the Grassmarket from West Port. The horse boxes to take the horses home were parked in King's Stables Road, the road that extends to the right from the centre of this photo. |

Riding of the Marches Edinburgh's 'Riding of the Marches' was held on September 6, 2009. There are annual Ridings in the Scottish Borders, but the last time this event was held in Edinburgh was in 1946.
