South Suburban Line This view looks to the east towards Morningside Road Station from the footbridge nearby. The steps to the platform can be seen, upper-centre, beside the tenements in Morningside Road. The platform extends from the upper-centre to the lower left corner of the picture. Morningside Road Station is on the Edinburgh South suburban line, that closed to passenger traffic on September 10, 1962. There have been recent campaigns for it to be re-opened. The line is still used by freight trains. |
