The National Gallery  -  at the Foot of the Mound

The first gallery to be built at the Foot of the Mound was the Royal Institution, built facing onto Princes Street.  

The second was the National Gallery, built behind the Royal Institution, looking from Princes Street.  Here is a view of the National Gallery looking from the north-west, with a little of the Old Town of Edinburgh at the top of the Mound in the background.
