"I've just come across this photo of St Thomas Aquinas students.  I'm quite sure it was taken in 1958.  Sorry, I can't place any names to the faces."

School Choir

"The teacher in this photo is Miss Hannovey.  She was the Music Teacher, so this would probably be a School Choir picture."

I attended the school in 1957/58.  A couple of the faces are familiar to me, but I'm still trying to place the names."

Students

"I attended St. Thomas' school, but did not complete my 4th year.  I left the school in December 1954.  I recognize six of the students in your photo who were in my classes.  Maybe someone else will remember other names."

Choir

"I still keep in touch with Annette Fagan.  I was in St Thomas' choir for a while, but I left school before this photo was taken. Miss Hannavy was a good teacher. She still comes to mind when I hear certain songs."

Thank you to Edith Caulfield for writing again with a couple more names for the table below, including her older sister, who sadly has now passed away.

Edith wrote:

Doreen Cavanagh

"I cannot be positive, but the 1st student on the right in the second row from the back  in this photo looks very much like my older sister Doreen Cavanagh. She passed away in 1986 and I had no pics of her when we were kids.

She remained in Scotland and did not come to Canada with me in 1958.  She was  tiny, 4ft 11 inches, had dark hair and attended the school at this time.  She was also in the choir."

"I was very quite excited to see the St. Thomas of Aquin's class photograph sent in by Edith Caulfield.

I believe the photograph was taken in 1957 as I recognize a few of my classmates.

There are also a few older students in the picture...I recognize Patricia Bailey's older sister in the 2nd row from back cannot recall her name.

-  Back row:                       8.  Moira Keating

-  2nd row from back:     6. Elizabeth Costello"

-  3rd row from back:      4. Patricia Bailey

                                             5. Sybil Sweeney

                                           12. Molly Breslin

It's possible that a few other names may come to mind when the long term memory kicks in."

Craig Shariff, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada:  17+18 August 2012

Hi Craig.

Thanks for the names.  I've now added them to the table below

1956?

"I left St Thomas's in December 1954.  I was in my 4th year, but decided to leave to start working.

Annette Fagan, Jean Teviotdale and Ellen Meechan were classmates of mine.  They apparently stayed on for higher education.  If they stayed on to complete 5th year, they would probably have left St. Thomas's in 1956.

I'll check with other friends in Edinburgh and get back to you on that"

"The girl at No.11 in the back row should be Ellen Meechan (not Ellen Michelle).  By the way, I have been in touch with her.  She has returned to Edinburgh"
