Glenfinnan Highland Games

The pibroch sounded out a mournful air,
As the water's sensed the pipers stare.
The games were in progress not far away,
Where highland gentlemen threw a caber
astray.

The contests start from the early light,
And
grown men in earnest prepare to fight,
No
battles with claymores I might add,
But tug o' wars and lightly clad.

A pipe band plays a Marching Tune,
With
others they compete from boon tae boon.
Until they who have won the cup that day,
Have
an encore with which they play.
