Caledonian Brewery is an
award winning-brewery, making traditional ale from their old premises
beside the railway at Slateford.
Here we look down from a
bridge over the railway. The copper tuns where the beer was
brewed were in the tall red brick building on the left of this
picture. The railway siding used to run next to this building.
Coal for heating the
tuns was delivered to the base of the tuns from the railway wagons,
then it was just a matter of shovelling it into the tuns to heat the
hot mash. |
