This photograph looks to the north down South Bridge and towards Register House (the dome in the distance) in Princes Street and St James Centre in the background. The fire engines have been attending the fire that broke out in Cowgate, and spread up through the buildings to destroy some of the higher floors that face onto South Bridge (on the left hand pavement, behind the skip in this photo). |
