This view looks along George Street, from its junction with Frederick
Street, towards the Melville Monument in the centre of St Andrew Square.
The Assembly Rooms, built 1787, are behind the red van on the right
hand side of this photo. The building with the large green dome, now
the home of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, is
on the corner of Hanover Street.
This year, there are eight large trees in the centre of the
street and twenty-four small trees at the edges of the
street. All trees were funded by Edinburgh City Council
with support from Standard Life and many George Street businesses, to
create new Christmas decorations for George Street in 2003. |
