Edinburgh Old Town Fire - Dismantling of the Cowgate wall
This photograph is taken from Blair Street looking towards the Gilded Balloon Theatre in the Cowgate. When this photograph was taken work had just begun to dismantle the walls on the south side of Cowgate by hand, working from a platform suspended from a crane. The workers here are dismantling bricks from the 6th floor of the building in the Cowgate. This photograph was taken on Friday 20 December. Later the same day, the whole of the wall in the Cowgate (except for an arched portion at the base) collapsed. |
