The View
Here is a busy scene, looking down the
Royal Mile towards Holyrood, just over a hundred years ago.
The cobbled street has lots of children and pedestrians, but
no traffic!
Looking down the street:
- Canongate Tolbooth is on the
left.
©
- Moray House is on the right

Wm Taylor & Co
This shows one of the uses of postcards in the early 20th
century. The card was posted on October 5, 1906, to
advise the recipient to expect a visit from a representative
of Wm Taylor & Co, Broughton Soap Works.
By looking at both the front and back of the postcard
above, it can be seen that there is an embossed stamp from the
company in the top corner of the card. |
