Fountain Close

Fountain Close leads to the south from the Royal Mile at a point opposite John Knox House.

The close is named after a fountain or well that once stood at its entrance, but was moved further up the street in 1813.

The view above is looking out to the south from the end of the close towards a private staircase, with cat!
