Heriot Row

View to the west along Heriot Row

This photograph was taken from the top of an open-top tour bus, as it crossed Heriot Row and entered Dundas Street, heading from the centre of Edinburgh to Leith Docks.

The view looks to the west along Heriot Row.  Queen Street Gardens are on the left-hand side of the street.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), author of Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Jekyll & Hyde used to lived at No 17 Heriot Row from the age of six until his family left Edinburgh in 1880.

Queen Street Gardens

No 17 Heriot Row is on the right-hand side of the road in this picture, overlooking the private Queen Street Gardens with their trees and lake.
