open-top tour bus, as it crossed Heriot Row and entered Dundas Street, heading from the centre of Edinburgh to Leith Docks.
The view looks to the west along Heriot Row.
Queen Street Gardens are on the left-hand side of the street.

family left Edinburgh in 1880.
