1940 to
1960
"I lived in the bottom
flat on the left-hand side of the building in this photo, from
birth 1940 until 1960 when I left for work in Coventry.
The building on the right
partly shown was known as the 'Shore Block' because the people who
lived there all came from The Shore, down at Leith docks.
I remember
a lady called Mrs Whales who used to sell Sunday papers from a
news stand by the red post box every day in the year whatever the
weather. There was always race to get to see 'Oor Wullie'
and 'The Broons' before my brother got up."
