West Harbour Road Granton Custom House closed many years ago. (I don't know when). I believe it was then used as offices. It now appears to be lying empty. The building is located near the western end of West Harbour Road, Granton, close to Granton Square. The old railway line that used to cross West Harbour Road at an ungated crossing used to pass in front of the Custom House. In this photo, new housing is being constructed (facing onto West Granton Road) behind the old Custom House. Maybe the old Custom House will be converted to housing at some stage. The land beyond the fence on the right-hand-side of this photo belongs to Waugh & Waugh, scrap merchants. |
