Live8 Concert

6 July 2005

Live8 Concerts, organised by Sir Bob Geldof's Live Aid foundation, are to be held in Britain on 6 July 2005 at:

-  Hyde Park, London

-  Murrayfield, Edinburgh.

There will also be concerts in France, Germany and Washington USA.

These concerts are in support of Geldof's anti-poverty campaign which is attempting to persuade world leaders to cancel Third World debt.

They are timed to coincide with the Summit Meeting of G8 leaders at Gleneagles, Scotland.

The Edinburgh concert will follow a 'Long Walk to Justice' anti-poverty march in Edinburgh.

It is being organised by Geldof and Midge Ure and will be hosted by comedians Lenny Henry and Peter Kay.  Performers at the concert will include Travis, Snow Patrol and Texas.

Film stars George Clooney, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, and pop stars Bono and Will Young will also be performing.

Tickets (two each) will be awarded to 42,000 winners chosen at random from those who have sent a text message to the Live Aid hotline 84599 and correctly answered a simple question between 13 and 18 June 2005.
