Great Gorilla Run

July 16, 2006

For the past three years a Great Gorilla Run has been held in London.  In the 2005 London run, there were around 1,000 runners and 250,000 was raised to help save endangered species.

About 400 are expected to participate in the Edinburgh Run on July 16, 2006.  Each contestant pays 100 and is given a gorilla suit to wear for the 7km run.  There will be a prize for the best-dressed gorilla.

The Great Gorilla Run is in memory of Dian Fossey who went to Africa to live among and studied gorillas in 1967.  She was murdered in 1987.
