Following the announcement in February 2006 that
there is to be no Meadows Festival this year, community leaders in
Morningside have announced plans to hold a Morningside Festival from Sep
28 to Oct 1, 2006.
This
will coincide with the weekend of 'Doors Open Day' in Edinburgh. The
organisers hope that the festival will become an annual event.
The 2006 Morningside Festival is expected to
include:
- an open air street party in Nile
Grove.
- a historical drama production,
based on the Workers' Education Association's book Morningside Memories
- a series of short films at the
Dominion Cinema
- a children's poetry competition.
- an exhibition from archives in
Morningside Library.
- a ceilidh dance in the Merlin
bar-restaurant.
