Edinburgh Evening News has announced that the 2011 Edinburgh Festival
Cavalcade has been cancelled. This follows the unexpected
resignation of the director in charge of the Cavalcade, David Todd.
The
Cavalcade has been held annually since 1976 at the start of the Edinburgh
Festivals. For most of this period the Cavalcade has gone along
Princes Street, but for the past couple of years, there have been road
works in Princes Street in connection with Edinburgh trams, it has
followed a route through Holyrood Park.
