Jungle City

Summer 2011

Throughout Edinburgh

Jungle City is expected to about 120 elephants tigers, orang-utans, crocodiles and other exotic species.  They began to arrive in Edinburgh on April 19, 2011, but the main exhibition will not begin until the summer, and will extend throughout the summer during the Edinburgh Festival.  The animals will then be auctioned for charity in the autumn.

There will be exhibits throughout Edinburgh, including:

-  The Royal Mile

-  Princes Street Gardens

-  Royal Botanic Garden

-  St Andrew Square

-  George Street

-  Charlotte Square.

Backers of the event include:

-  Artist, Jack Vettriano

-  Motor Racing Driver, Jackie Stewart

-  Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell.

Elephant Delivery

A briefer article in The Edinburgh Evening News, published on te same day as The Scotsman article above referred to 'over 150 animals'.

The m\in feature of the Evening News article was that the van driver unloading an elephant at South East Circus Place was being given a parking ticket by a Parking Attendant.

Exhibition Opening Date?

I have not found a date yet, anywhere on the internet, for the Jungle City exhibition, but I enquired at the Royal Botanic Garden yesterday and was given a starting date during Summer 2011.  I believe they gave me a starting date of July 16, 2011.
