Edinburgh Waterfront
Edinburgh City Council leaders announced on 13
September 03 a feasibility study had been commissioned. It will look
into the possibility of a major combined sports complex and concert arena.
Such a complex could, perhaps, be built:
- near the Ocean Terminal shopping centre at
Leith Docks (where the
MTV Awards Ceremony is to be held in November 03)
OR
- at
Edinburgh Waterfront, an
area being redeveloped to the west of
Granton Harbour (where more than 9,000 new houses are to be built over the
next seven years).
Such a stadium could replace the ageing Meadowbank
Stadium at London Road, built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games.
