Recollections 1. John (Ian) Davie Longniddry, East Lothian, Scotland |
Thank you to John (Ian) Davie who wrote: Around 1942-50 "I attended Craigmillar Primary School from c.1942 to 1950 when I lived at Station Road and then Wauchope Avenue. Residence in Craigmillar was interspersed for a year or so when we moved to Burdiehouse and attended Prestonfield Primary School. I won a bursary from Craigmillar Primary School to Portobello Senior School (or as it was then called 'Portobello Higher Grade'). I'll be seventy two years old in November and glad that I received a good old-fashioned Scottish education." John (Ian) Davie: Longniddry, East Lothian, Scotland: August 1+9, 2009 |

Thank you to Dave McKinlay for posting this reply to Bobby Inglis in the EdinPhoto guestbook. Dave wrote: |
Dempsters "Hi Bobby. You mention Dempsters. Would one of them been Jimmy, an amateur boxer in the mid-1950s? He would have been your age, and went to the Marischal. I am three years younger than you, but have a brother your age who knocked around with Jimmy Dempster. I think they both served in The Royal Scots, Suez Canal, 1956. I'll check that one out with my brother next time I talk to him. I'd be interested to know if its the same Dempsters." |
Our Family My three brothers and I went to the Marischal. My brothers were: - James (your age) - Billy (a year younger then me born 1938) - Tommy (the youngest, born 1947). We lived in Bingham. Now, we are all in New Zealand. We've lived here since the early-1960s, except Billy who lives up in Colinton, Edinburgh. |
