Recollections

1.

Harry Jones

Parkgrove, Edinburgh

Thank you to Harry Jones who saw some of the photos that I had taken at United Wire Works

Edinburgh at Work - United Wire Works

and replied:

Looms

"Nostalgia, indeed.  I used to be a tenter on these looms (- a loom turner to the uninitiated).  I thought they would have all been replaced by now.  I left in 1966."

Horses

"Captain Green (owner) had race horses, or at least his wife did.  Their sons, Tony and Michael, used to come round, on night shift, and give us tips when they were performing.  We had a few winners."
