Clive Press wrote: "I recently inherited two oil paintings by John Horsburgh on the death of my father earlier this year. They are of my g g grandparents, William Cobb Smith of Benholm Castle and his wife Jessie Smith (Rae). My family came originally from Montrose Scotland, and William Smith had business interests in Edinburgh. I am now retired and am living in the province of Cordoba in Spain. The pictures are 34cm x 40cm including the gold frame; the pictures are set within a gold oval surround, and signed and dated in red "Horsburgh Edin 1874".
