Albert Tibbetts

Postcard Portrait

Phil Wilson tells me that the photograph above was taken around 1907

George Kilgour's studio was in fact listed in the Edinburgh trade directories between 1907 and 1910.

UPDATE

About four years after adding the photograph above to the web site, I received another message from Phil Wilson.

Phil wrote:

"As a result of posting snaps of Albert on flickr, I've had a message from a family member giving extra info for some of the photos.

Interestingly, this photo of Albert by Kilgour was taken at the studio occupied shortly afterwards* by Claude Low.

I've, today, learned that Albert's mother was 'Isabella Low'.  I suppose it's just a coincidence (though Low is not that common a name, I think).  It makes you wonder though!  Albert's brother was 'John Low Tibbetts'.

I've looked at the Low family trees on your pages** but no Isabella is mentioned, so it could just be happenstance."

NOTES on UPDATE

*  In fact, Clause Low appears to have occupied the studio (at 54 Cockburn Street) before George Kilgour.  The trade directories, which can often be a year or two out with the dates show the occupants to have been:

-  1898-1909:  Claude Low

-  1907-1910:  George Kilgour.

** Isabella could well be a member of the same Low family.  Most of the family trees on my EdinPhoto web site are incomplete.  They include just the details that I have been told about, paying particular attention to any members of the family who were photographers.
