Professional
Photographer
RH McBean was a
photographer from 1895 until 1925, commencing at 25 Albert Place. He
described himself as
Calotypist.
I have seen a copy of a
photograph of St Trinian’s school, Edinburgh, taken by RH McBean in 1925.
Photographic
Dealer
He
appears to have had a photographic business at 25 Albert Place at least a couple
of years before appearing in the Edinburgh Trade Directories as a photographer
at that address. This was one of the Edinburgh addresses given for plates
and dark rooms in a report in the journal, Photography
in 1893. [Photography
22 June 1893]
He remained at 14 Albert Place until 1936, but
as Dealer in Photographic Materials, rather than Photographer.
