Snow can be seen:

-  in Princes Street Gardens, in the foreground.

-  on the hills of Fife, in the background.

Princes Street runs diagonally across the lower part of this photo.  We are looking, here, at the section of Princes Street between Castle Street and Frederick Street.

The dome on the left is on the top of St George's Church (now West Register House) at Charlotte Square.  The high buildings, that can be seen better on the enlarged photo, close to the Firth of Forth, on the left-hand side of this photo are at Muirhouse.
