This is one of many drawings by Ewbank (1799-1847) that were engraved by Lizars. This view looks towards Edinburgh Castle from a position that appears to be low in East Princes Street Gardens, close to where the ice rink has been situated in recent winters. It will probably be another two or three decades before the National Gallery of Scotland is built between this viewpoint and the castle. |
