The Lord Melville Monument

George Street runs from West to East in the New Town of Edinburgh.

Charlotte Square is at the west end of the street;  St Andre Square is at the east end of the street.  The monument in this engraving is in the centre of St Andrew Square.  It is dedicated to Lord Melville.

On the East side of the Square, behind and immediately to the right of the monument is the residence built for Sir Laurence Dundas, for many years Member of Parliament for Edinburgh.  It is now occupied by the Royal Bank of Scotland
