Castle Street is in Edinburgh's 'First New Town', built in the late 18th century.
Sir Walter Scott lived at 39 Castle Street from 1798 until 1826.
Edinburgh Photographic Society had premises across the road, at 38 Castle Street from 1892 until 1925.
