The Forth Rail Bridge between South Queensferry and North Queensferry, about ten miles to the west of Edinburgh was built in the 1880s and opened in 1890. |

Many postcards of the bridge have been published. This one by J R Russell, posted in Edinburgh on 16 February 1904 is interesting, showing a train emerging from the north end of the bridge towards North Queensferry Station, and a large sailing yacht below, in the Firth of Forth at North Queensferry. The island behind the yacht is Inchgarvie. |
