Swanston lies at the foot of the Pentland Hills, about four miles to the south of the centre of Edinburgh.

Below the picture is an extract from Robert Louis Stevenson who had a cottage at Swanston

"Unshamed the narrow aim I hold

  I feed my flock, patrol my fold."
