The Postcard This Valentine postcard uses photograph from 1902, but the appears to have been published in the 1930s. It is No 5 in a series of cards of Leith Docks. Other cards that I have seen in this series are Nos 7, 8 and 9, all using photos taken in 1933. The card has not been sent through the post |

The View This view looks to the east through Leith Docks, towards the Victoria Swing Bridge (on right of the picture) close to where the Water of Leith enters Leith Docks. The Sailors' Home (now the Malmaison Hotel) on The Shore (the east bank of the Water of Leith) can be seen above the left side of the Victoria Swing Bridge. There are several vessels in this view. Please email me if you recognise any of them. Even examining the postcard with a magnifying glass, it is not quite possible to read any of the names.
