Caller Herrin
Caller Herrin' is a Scottish song concerning herring fishing in the Firth of Forth. The words on the card read:
"Buy my Caller Herrin'
They're bonnie fish and halesome farin';
Buy my Caller Herrin'
Now drawn frae the Firth."
This is one of two songs:
- Caller Herrin' (or Caller Haddies = Fresh Herring) and
- Caller Ou' (= Fresh Oysters)
that was featured on early cartes de visite by James Ross of Edinburgh
